Alan Macnair, Founder
More than 25 years ago, Alan sold his real estate company in Raleigh, NC and relocated his family to the Blue Ridge Mountains. In 1997, he began his career at the nation’s largest construction search firm. Alan went on to become Executive Vice President, ranked as the #1 producer in the Southeast, and was inducted into their Hall of Fame. After a dynamic career, Alan wanted to start something fresh. MRS is built on the idea that a small, talented team can provide a unique personal touch. Alan enjoys tending his animals and his vegetable and flower gardens on his farm south of Asheville.

Jacob Macnair, Recruiter
The last ten years of Jacob’s career have been spent in the hospitality industry, where he learned to listen and develop lasting relationships. Through executive search, Jacob channels these abilities to empower others to advocate for themselves while building personal, human connections with others. His hobbies include cooking with his girlfriend, exercising at the local YMCA, and skiing when he can.

Shakara is a native and lifelong resident of Asheville, deeply connected to Western North Carolina through the people, family, and neighborhoods she has grown up in. With over a decade of experience in construction recruitment, Shakara has recruited for a wide range of positions across the industry—from executives, operations managers, and project managers to superintendents, technicians, and plumbers. Her comprehensive knowledge of the construction sector allows her to deliver tailored recruitment solutions with precision and insight. She was promoted to Manager at a large commercial mechanical contracting company, later started her own recruiting business, and eventually joined MacNair Retained Search.
